First Field Trip

Finally, I feel as though I have some events worth blogging about. We will start with the depressing news first. On Sunday my Great- Uncle Bob died from a stroke. His death was unexpected, and many family members were affected by it. On Thursday the family attended his memorial service, and then we went back to my Great-Aunt Lorrane and Uncle Bob's house for the family to get together. It was nice having the whole family here in Indiana. My mom and her brothers were raised with Bob and Lorrane's 4 sons. At one time Bob and Lorrane moved to California, and two of their sons decided to stay there when they moved back to Indiana. It is always nice to see the family from California, one day I am planning on going to California and visiting them.
One of Bob and Lorrane's sons, Steve, has a ten year old daugther named Lindsee.  Ashlyn absolutely loved Lindsee. Lindsee and Ashlyn played all day! Ashlyn was so wore out that she couldn't even last the car ride home without a nap. I posted some pics of the family from Thursday afternoon. It was such a beautiful day to spend with family, it was too bad the circunstances that brought us together. Bob will truly be missed by many.

WooHoo the Yankee's won their first two games of the play-offs. Now I have never been a huge Yankee's fan, or a baseball fan at all! I decided to jump on the Yankee's bandwagon, since it is the only sports team Josh and I can agree on. I love the Colts, Josh loves the Benglas, I love UofL, Josh loves UofK, I love Dale Earnhart,  Josh loves Tony Stewart, I am sure by now you get the picture. So, I guess for Josh I can say Go Yankees! I am trying to make Ashlyn a Yankee's fan as well, she is catching on pretty good!

Today was Ashlyn's first field trip, Montgomery Farms. She was so excited to ride on the big yellow school bus. This morning she informed she was not getting on it without me though! Once we were on the bus, she was fine and I was abandoned for her two friends Hannah and Victoria. They are so cute playing together. When we arrived at Montgomery Farms we went on a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick out a pumpkin. All the kids sat on the wagon floor while the adults sat on bales of hay around them. What a horrible idea that was! The wagon floor was covered in loose hay. The kids were throwing the hay everywhere, and there was no stopping them. Of course Ashlyn was not throwing the hay, she was way more concerned that hay was gettting in her hair.
Once we got to the pumpkin patch it took Ashlyn forever to pick a pumpkin. You should never give that child too many options to choose from. She would still be out there right now if it was up to her. After the pumpkin patch it was playground time! Ashlyn, Hannah, and Victoria were having a great time swinging on the horse tires, playing in the corn box, and sliding down the slides until Ashlyn got a splinter. It took about 10 minutes for me to squeeze the splinter out, as Ashlyn screamed and stomped her foot over and over again! Once the splinter was out she was able to enjoy herself again. Ashlyn and Victoria ended the field trip with a cow train ride. Ashlyn had a blast and I loved watching her and her friends interact together.

After the field trip we went and had lunch with Mamaw Ronda at her school. We keep telling Ashlyn she will be going to school there next year, I just don't think she gets it. Tonight is Kelsie's, Josh's cousin, homecoming game. Ashlyn thinks Kelsie is in a Princess competition, I hope Kelsie wins or Ashlyn is going to be one mad 4 year old. I will take pcitures of Kelsie and post them later. I will leave with one last pic I took of Ashlyn this week. I walked into her room on Tuesday and she had taken my laundry basket and turned it into her own personal chair. She looked super cute all cuddled up in the basket watching Sponge Bob.
