Winter Days

The Sawyer family is ready for summer! Ashlyn is starting to get a little stir crazy in the house all the time. Ashlyn is making Mommy and Daddy a little stir crazy too! We are constantly playing games, watching movies, and building tents! I can't wait till we can say go outside and play. We have had our share of snow this year, but I am sure it is not over yet! Ashlyn has had lots of fun in the snow this year. She is constantly wanting to go out and play in it! Ashlyn discovered how to make snow angels the last big snow. She couldn't stop making them. She looks so cute all dressed up to play!

This was the first snow angel Ashlyn made!

There were many more to come after that!
She kept falling down in the grass to make her snow angel. She got a big surprise when she fell back on the concrete to make one. It wasn't quite as soft as the grass!

Ashlyn also learned how to catch the snow on her tongue. Once she caught a few flakes she decided to eat it by the handfuls!

She even borrowed some from the grill to eat!

How pretty she looked in the snow!

The house looked pretty in the snow too!

I have been super busy lately planning our spring break vacation. I am so excited to go to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Ashlyn can't wait to go to the beach! She has only been once when she was 3 months old. When I asked her if she wanted to go to Disney or the beach, she said the beach. She must really want to see the beach. We have our plane tickets and our house, so we are ready for March! I have already started getting Ashlyn ready for vacation, I bought her a new suitcase just for her!
Thirty-One has kept me pretty busy lately. When I am not at work, I am usually at home doing Thirty-One stuff. I am very thankful for the extra money! I already have a couple of parties set up for February, so I am sure I will stay busy. I have also been super busy planning a Justin Bieber birthday party and a bridal shower for Michelle. It's official, March will be the busiest month of the year for me! Since I have been busy, Ashlyn has had to make her own entertainment. She recently pulled her tricycle out of storage and my living room/kitchen/dining room has became a racetrack. She is almost too big for the tricycle!
Today we got a card in the mail from a church organizations wanting donations. In the card was a cross necklace that Ashlyn has been wearing since Josh opened it. Josh told her the necklace was from Jesus. Ashlyn called my Grandma tonight and told her she got a new necklace from the Chinese. I guess Jesus and Chinese sorta sound alike!
I put Ashlyn's new white boots on her for school today! Of course this would be the day she spilt grape juice on her shoes! I am sure they are ruined, but I will attempt to clean them. Ashlyn said well it looks like we will have to go shopping! I think I have created a monster! I am going to end the blog with some pics of Ashlyn before school one day this month.  I thought she looked so cute and grown-up! She even has matching fingernails!

Snow Day

What an exhausting, but fun day we had today. Josh and I didn't go to bed until 2:00 A.M, and there was no snow in sight.  When we woke up at 8:30 the ground was covered in snow. Ashlyn was so excited! Since I didn't have to go into work tonight, I decided that I would go outside with Ashlyn and build a snowman. I didn't realize how hard of a task this was! I forgot that a snowman required eyes and a nose, so we yelled into the house for Josh to find frosty a nose and eyes. Since Frosty wasn't very big Josh got us a baby carrot for the nose and hard root beer candy for the eyes.
Not a good idea, the root beer candy started to melt into frosty and made him look like a bloody massacre had occurred. That's when I remembered that a couple of years ago I had received a free snow man kit as a Black Friday special.  Who knew it would actually be used one day!  Our snowman didn't get very big but Ashlyn was proud of it.
While Ashlyn and I made Frosty, Josh made breakfast! He attempted gravy for the second time this week.  He is getting better, but it still isn't edible! When Josh saw our snowman he thought it was pathetic and decided that he would go outside and help us make a big one. Ashlyn was so excited to help make a big snowman. After 2 1/2 hours Josh and I were finishing up the snowman and Ashlyn had been inside for the past hour watching Sponge Bob. Her helping consisted of her throwing snowballs at us ( she seemed to always find the inch of bare skin showing and hit that spot!), putting holes in my yard with the shovel, and burying her feet in the snow. I am so glad Josh thought this would be a good idea.
After it was all said and done Frosty looked much better than the baby snowman. It was well worth it when the 3 year old up the street came outside and yelled, " Look Daddy at the beautiful snowman." At least we impressed somebody! Evan even came over to see the snowman as well.   Ashlyn topped Frosty off with her Little League Baseball cap, since we didn't have a top hat.

To end the blog I will tell one last story of Ashlyn today. While eating supper today Ashlyn was flipping through the Pottery Barn Kids magazine when she closed it shut and said, " Mommy when I have a brother we are going to have to buy a thump bed." I said, " A thump bed? What is a thump bed." She said, " You know two beds where you need a latter." " Oh... you mean a bunk bed," I said. " Yeah that way I can sleep on the top and you can sleep on the bottom with my brother, that way you can still sleep with me." The things that child thinks of!

Time For a New Year!

Christmas is finally over! I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas. It is my favorite time of the year, yet I am always glad when it is all over. To start off I need to complete the 12 days of Christmas. Ashlyn was not as into the last two days of Christmas, she was getting so many toys from other people!

On the 11th day of Christmas Ashlyn's Mommy and Daddy gave to her....

A book called the Night Before the Night Before Christmas. This book was too cute! The book rhymed and Ashlyn loved reading it.

On the 12th day of Christmas Ashlyn's Mommy and Daddy gave to her..

The book The Night Before Christmas. This is a special version because it was a recordable book that Mommy and Daddy made for her. It took Josh and I forever to record the book. We both kept messing up!

Now that the 12 days of Christmas are over.. we can get to the good presents. Ashlyn was a blast this year opening all of her gifts. She could hardly wait to get started. The first place we went was to Josh's Dad's house to open presents with his little sisters. Ashlyn was so excited to see her Aunt Jenna and Jessica, but she more excited about opening her first set of presents.Ashlyn got a fun stocking full of goodies, a barbie cruise ship, and a toy story yahtzee game.

After we left Josh's Dad's house we went to Grandma and Grandpa Sawyer's house. Ashlyn and Jenna played a card game while they patiently waited to open presents.
Ashlyn was so excited when she opened her new Sponge Bob game.

She got so many more fun presents! A Thirty-One bag, some clothes, and an Indian doll! All the girls got matching Indian dolls from Josh's Grandparents.

The third place we went to was Grandma and Grandpa Hostetler's on Christmas Eve. Ashlyn loved all her presents from the family. She absolutely loved the dollhouse Grandma Hostetler had covered up with a blanket. Grandma thought she was sly, but Ashlyn told her she knew all along it was a dollhouse because of the shape.

Now it was time for Santa Claus to come! We opened some of Ashlyn's toys from Grandma and Grandpa Hostetler's prior to going to bed. She just couldn't wait to open them!

All tuckered out and waiting for Santa to come. She was so cute, she feel asleep in her new tent!

Finally Santa Came! We had to wake her up of course! This first thing she wanted to open was her stocking! It took her forever to open her stocking, and finally get to the tree!

Mamaw Ronda brought her presents over Christmas morning!

Ashlyn got to stay in her PJ's and go over to Aunt Trisha's house for Christmas. Ashlyn got her favorite present while she was over there. Her new iPod touch!

I do believe Ashlyn had a great Christmas, as always! Now it is time to bring in the New Year. My New Year's resolution is to cook more at home. We will see how that goes, so far I am not doing so hot! My New Year's resolution needed to be to stop buying Ashlyn clothes, but I figured that was not a realistic goal! I hope everyone has a great New Year!
